Healthy Families Oregon, formerly known as Healthy Start, was created by the Oregon Legislature in 1993. It is a statewide program in Oregon’s system of supports and services for families with young children. Healthy Families promotes wellness for Oregon families who need extra support during pregnancy and at the time of birth by offering strength based, family centered home visiting services tailored to meet each family’s unique situation.
In July of 2009 Clackamas County Children’s Commission (CCCC) partnered with the Children, Youth and Families division to provide Healthy Families Services to families throughout Clackamas County, Oregon. In addition to offering the Healthy Families program, Clackamas County Children’s Commission (CCCC) also offers Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) programs.
HS and EHS support the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age five who are at risk in our community. These programs offer a combination of classroom and home visiting experiences. Additionally, they provide children and their families with services and support for health living, good nutrition, social well-being, and more.
Clackamas County Children’s Commission and Healthy Families both honor parents as the first and most important teachers. We remain responsive to each child, and value every family’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage. In building strong relationships with our children and families, we support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, and connections to peers and our community.
